Big Girl Table

Afton is priding herself on being a "big girl". Her crowning achievements are sitting at her big girl table and "going to the bathroom" on her potty.
When asked to give up her pacifier because she is such a big girl she screamed at us that "big girls have fires!! Big girls have Fires!!"
Now every time she gets her pacifier she reminds us, "I am a big girl, and I have a big girl fire"

Don't Take My Picture!

This reminds me a bit of her cousin Lucy and the famous "I don't want to take a picture" video.

Summer Lovin

We have spent most of our spring and summer at the park, the museums and the zoo.

Afton's 5 Favorite Summer Time Activities

1. Strolling through the zoo- favorite animals include Elephants, Giraffes, Monkeys, Fish and Meercats.

2. Going to the Children's Museum where she runs the birdseed table. She also ventured out to the Wizard of Oz exhibit.

3. Visiting the Natural History Museum to gawk at the dead animals and set off alarms on the elevators.

4. Livin it up at the park

5. Finally, nothing beats playing in the dirt in our backyard.

Long Over Due.

So this update is so long over due I am not even sure where to begin. At first I was a week late, that turned into 3 weeks, then a month... at that point it just became such a daunting task I could not figure out what to post to get back on track. But, I do need to get back on track and today is the day. The following will be a round up of some of my favorite pics and events from the last few months. Once we are all caught up you can count on semi weekly posts once again... here goes....

I believe we left off somewhere around our D.C. trip----

Her Easter Dress

The Love of Slides has begun

After DC is was a quick trip to Fremont to visit Grandpa Gabel's Easter Bunnies

While in DC last week Afton met a man.

They did dinner and a show. She has not stopped talking about him since.

Tales from the tub.

Afton loves her bathtime. She really loves all forms of hygiene. In fact the only way we can get her out of the tub is with the promise that she can brush her teeth.

Nap Skippin'

Our Dear Sweet Afton has had some crazy days lately. I think the heat and her excitement over the presence of scout are making her a bit nutty. Yesterday she refused to nap until 4:30pm and today she refused a nap all together. To be fair, she did sleep both days for about 20 minutes in the car.....

This lack of daytime rest makes her a bit looney in the early evenings. I was unable to capture the true madness but these are some decent examples. To her credit, she is very funny and quite happy when she is overtired!

Slide

We have been to the park quite a bit lately. Afton has finally gathered the courage to climb the jungle gym and go down the slide all by herself. She was very happy with herself today.

We also spotted a new Dad at the park today with a Boa Constrictor around his neck. They were arriving as we were leaving but we are hoping for another run in sometime this week!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Afton enjoyed her St. Patrick's Day very much. She went to brunch at the Nacs' and passed out in the middle of the party.
She really enjoyed corned beef and watching all the drunk folks stumble around outside our house. She also stole a balloon from the obnoxious guys across the street!

She has gone to bed for the night but I highly doubt that will last as people behind our house are screaming their drunken epiphanies outside her window.

Playground

We have been enjoying this beautiful weather by spending most of our days at the nearby parks and playgrounds.  We have found some pleasant surprises (young parents at 12th street park) and some not so pleasant ones (The shirtless, smoking and yelling parents at SouthSide Park). We have also found what is possibly the nicest playground in PA at Schenley Park (not pictured).
